🧠 The Secret Every Parent Should Know About Youth Sports Training

There’s a secret that the real coaches and trainers — the ones with degrees, certifications, and years in the field — have known for a long time.
It’s this:
🔶 Your child doesn’t need fancy drills or early specialization.🔶 They need General Physical Preparation (GPP).
That’s the real foundation. And yet most people won’t tell you this, because it doesn’t sell as well as “elite” training and highlight reels at age 12.
What Is GPP (And Why Is It So Important)?
GPP stands for General Physical Preparation — and it’s exactly what middle school athletes need most.
It’s about building:
🔸 Coordination
🔸 Balance
🔸 Mobility
🔸 Speed
🔸 Strength
🔸 Reaction time
🔸 Body control
🔸 Confidence
The science is clear: Kids who focus on GPP and play multiple sports are less likely to get injured, more likely to stay in sports longer, and more likely to succeed at higher levels if they choose to go that route later on.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, early sport specialization is associated with higher rates of injury, burnout, and dropout. Meanwhile, research from the National Strength & Conditioning Association and Project Play has shown that diverse physical development leads to better long-term performance and athlete well-being.
So why aren’t more programs teaching this?
We Built This Camp Because We’re Parents Too
We’re not here trying to build a brand. We built this camp because we saw a real need.
We’re not only teachers and coaches, but parents ourselves. We saw the pressure. The misinformation. We watched good families get sucked into programs that looked flashy but weren’t helping their kids actually develop.
We got tired of it — the gimmicks, the ladder drills with no purpose, the private “elite” trainers charging $150/hour to run kids into the ground doing things that look cool but aren’t backed by any science.
So we created something different. Something better.
At Power & Pride Speed & Strength Camp, we:
Focus on movement first
Prioritize long-term athletic development (LTAD)
Build athletes from the ground up — safely, smartly, and confidently
Work with the age group we serve (6th–8th grade)
Teach them to train, not just play
We’re not guessing. We’re applying decades of combined experience, multiple Master’s degrees in Exercise Science and Education, and the best available research on youth development and training.
Your Kids Deserve Better
We believe that every child deserves a strong foundation — physically, emotionally, and mentally.
We’re not here to make money on false promises. We’re here to coach the right way — and to help your child become strong, coordinated, confident, and prepared for any sport they choose.
That’s what GPP does. And that’s what this camp is all about.
